January 13 - 17

Student Learning

  • In writing, we read several Pigeon books by Mo Willems.

  • These books were a starting point for us to begin exploring persuasive writing, first and next and the use of speech bubbles to tell a story. Here is an example of our writing work this week:

  • We began our unit on Building Things this week. Each class got the opportunity to participate in three toy building activities. Ask your child to share what they made, how the toy moved and what their favorite toy was.

  • In math, we worked on counting by 2s and addition word problems.

  • Ask your child to solve this word problem:
    • There are 4 books in the bin. 3 more books are added. How many books are in the bin now?
Classroom Updates

  • The weather is finally getting warmer! We will be going on a neighborhood scavenger hunt to connect to our Social Studies curriculum on Wednesday, January 22nd at 12:20. Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather.
