November 25 - 29

Student Learning

  • Our words of the week are: came, can, could and came. Practice finding these with your child in the books you are reading together.
  • We read the lovely book, "The Giving Tree" by Shel Silverstein. In our Visual Journals, we sketched and labelled four things that the tree gave the boy. Ask your child to share their thoughts on this story.

  • In gym, we played floor hockey games.

  • In math, we have started to talk about the teen numbers and what it means when a number is made up of two digits. We talked about which of these pictures is easier to count:

  • Ask your child to share which one they find easier to count and why.
  • We also started to talk about the = sign. Ask your child to share what this symbol means.
  • In writing, we worked on describing apples using the sentence frame, "Apples are ..." Ask your child to share some of their observations and wonders about apples.
Classroom Updates

  • Thank you for all of your apple donations! We are still accepting apple donations as we continue our inquiry next week. We will have an apple tasting on Monday, December 2nd where we will try different varieties of apples.  If you would not like your child to participate, please email your child's teacher.
  • The weather is supposed to warm up next week. Weather permitting, we will go on a pond walk on Wednesday, December 4th in the afternoon.
